What is Bucking Funting all about?
Well, you may have noticed the spoonerism... that's because I had the idea to create some fun bunting with naughty words on it - a lovely juxtaposition of pretty fabrics and swear words.
I wanted this bunting to be well made - something that could be on permanent display or brought out every year, like we do with our Christmas decorations, not cheaply thrown together and full of plastic, like most of the decorative bunting available for parties and celebrations.
Once I'd made my first string of sweary bunting, I was so pleased with the look and the quality that I wanted more -
bunting for kids, bunting for Christmas, for Halloween, Pride, etc.
I'm not claiming to be 100% green - I wish that was possible - but I am trying to create a product that can be used over and over, rather than a temporary decoration that ends up in landfill and I am trying to make it as sustainable as possible, using 100% cotton where possible, repurposing fabrics from other things and using every last scrap to minimise waste.
This last bit is where the cards came in - I have a lot of leftover, lovely little pieces of fabric from making the bunting and, rather than waste them, I stick tiny bunting onto sweary greetings cards.
All products will be posted in repurposed packaging wherever possible and I encourage you to re-use or recycle this. Soft plastics (i.e. bags) can currently be taken to Co-op or Tesco stores for recycling.
